Product description
Young children are sometimes confused by all the information contained on regular playing cards. Child friendly cards replace the four suits with four geometric shapes—square, rectangle, triangle, circle—each with a different colour. The face cards are replaced with the numbers 11, 12 and 13 and a zero (0) card is included. The shapes on the cards are arranged in standard subitising patterns. This book contains many, many card games. Some are more general, such as concentration games, matching card games and collecting groups of cards. Others focus on mathematics concepts and skills, such as the sequencing of numbers, greater than and less than, the language of mathematics, and early addition and subtraction. Card games help students develop early number concepts as well as learning about card etiquette, taking turns and winning (and losing!). A complementary set of cards is included.
